WLRA Budget Committee

State law (ORS 294.336) mandates a budget committee for all Oregon local governments.

The Budget Committee for the City of West Linn consists of the governing body plus an equal number of legal voters (community members of the Budget Committee) appointed by the City Council. Accordingly, West Linn has ten budget committee members, and the votes of all members are equal.

On April 8, 2024, the West Linn Redevelopment Agency Board (West Linn City Council) voted to have the City's Budget Committee act as the Agency's Budget Committee.

The Budget Committee meets periodically to review budget and financial information. The first review of the budget occurs when the budget is presented to the committee; at that time, the budget is publicly available, and the committee begins their review of the budget presented by the Agency Director (City Manager). The committee may approve the proposed budget intact, or change part or all of it prior to final approval. After notices and publications are filed according to local budget law, the budget is forwarded to the Agency Board for formal adoption prior to June 30.
