Sign Approval - Permanent

Most permanent, altered, or temporary signs require approval from the City. Sign regulations can be found in the Community Development Code Chapter 52.  Sign installation may also require a structural building permit.

Sign approvals are void after 90 days if not installed or not installed as approved. Applicants must notify the Planning Department by email when the installation is complete. The sign approval fee is doubled if a sign is erected or placed before approval.

Applicants should submit sign approval application, scaled site plan , and scaled drawing  online rather than emailing or delivering paper copies.

The application must include:

  • A scaled site plan showing the sign’s location in relation to property lines, buildings, other on-premises signs, streets, sidewalks, clear vision triangle, and the location of any structures and freestanding signs on neighboring properties.
  • A scaled drawing of the sign design that includes dimensions, height, sign area, materials, attachment method, illumination source, and its relationship to any building or structure to which it is to be installed or affixed.
