West Linn Police Chief Timeus to Retire

West Linn Police Chief Terry Timeus will retire at the end of October after leading the West Linn Police Department for 12 years. The City has concluded its internal investigation into policy violations and has found no terminable offenses. Timeus and the City have mutually agreed to part ways.

Timeus began his career with the City of West Linn in 2005 as interim chief. Since serving the City of West Linn he has overseen the construction of a new police station, hired and promoted highly qualified individuals and promoted a positive relationship between the community and the police department.

Reflecting back on his 34 years of service, Timeus said law enforcement has changed dramatically, describing how technology has better equipped police officers and made the communities they serve even safer.  Timeus said, although some of the decisions he has made were difficult, he feels he has made a positive impact within the community as well as within the department.

Following his departure, Timeus will focus his time on family, friends and pursuing hobbies.

Lastly, and most importantly, Timeus said he wants to thank the community and the West Linn Police Department for the opportunity to lead such a fine organization and serve a community that is second to none.

“It was an honor to be part of a great department and community. I will miss going to the office and interacting with the citizens of West Linn. Thank you.” Timeus said.

“I want to thank Chief Timeus for his many accomplishments as Chief of Police of the West Linn Police Department, including overseeing the construction and completion of a new state-of-the-art police station that will serve our city for years to come. We truly wish him and his family all the best during retirement. Our Police Department will remain dedicated to serving the community at the highest levels of service and professionalism as we begin the search for a new chief,” said City Manager Eileen Stein. Ms. Stein will begin the process to identify Timeus’ successor in the coming month.
