Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Lifted

Horton Water Break Area Map

WEST LINN, OR – January 17, 2024 – The precautionary boil water notice, issued yesterday by the City of West Linn for its Horton Water Pressure Zone, has been lifted due to water samples testing negative for contamination. Water throughout the City is confirmed safe to drink without boiling. Air may be present in pipelines, which can make noise when faucets are turned on. Please run your taps until the air finishes escaping.

On Tuesday, January 16, a weather-related equipment failure led to potential loss of water pressure in the Horton Water Pressure Zone portion of West Linn. Out of an abundance of caution, because crews could not confirm system pressure was maintained above the threshold required to ensure safe drinking, the City had issued a boil water advisory for the Horton Pressure Zone.

Our water systems are monitored continually at all hours of the day and night, year-round, and our infrastructure is staffed to handle any pipe breaks, including those that occur because of freezing weather. Thank you to our Water and Public Works Departments for their rapid response to the situation, and to Clackamas River Providers water lab for ensuring a quick turnaround despite multiple weather obstacles.
