West Linn’s Meals on Wheels Program Could Use Your help!
The Pioneer Center Meals on Wheels programs are on the front lines every day, focused on doing all they can to keep West Linn and Oregon City seniors safe and nourished. In this time of national crisis, the Pioneer Center Meals on Wheels programs ask for your help. All donations received by the generous West Linn community members are tax-deductible and will go directly towards their ongoing efforts to keep the homebound in West Linn and Oregon City safe and nourished. Experts Discuss How to Have a Safe Halloween
COVID-19 is reshaping how Oregonians celebrate holidays, including Halloween. But that doesn't mean Halloween can't still be fun this year! Watch this Facebook Live video from OHA for tips on how to celebrate safely and questions answered by their experts.

Safe and Spooky Halloween Ideas
Since many traditional Halloween activities can be high risk for spreading viruses, parents will be looking for safe, but still spooky, ways to create a fun and memorable holiday. The OHA is recommending that Oregonians avoid traditional trick-or-treating or trunk-or-treat activities this Halloween. Children may be disappointed, but there are still lots of fun ways to celebrate. Consider involving your children in the planning to add to their enthusiasm for the holiday.

Here are some ideas of ways to celebrate safely:

  • Host an online costume contest with friends and family both near and far away. (Governor Kate Brown is hosting one on her Facebook page using #SpookySafeOregon. Make sure you include a face covering!)
  • Watch a scary Halloween movie online.
  • Carve pumpkins with members of your household.
  • Have a neighborhood jack-o-lantern contest.
  • Tour neighborhood yard and home displays with household members.
  • Decorate your house, apartment, or living space.
  • Make your own Halloween candy or caramel apples.
  • Have a Halloween scavenger hunt in or around your home.

Remember that the safest activities include celebrating with members of your own household. If you gather with people outside your own household, you can decrease the risk by being outside, maintaining at least six feet of distance, and wearing a mask.

Tips for Getting Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Services
DMV is continuing to improve its services by adding more appointments, expanding online services and retrofitting offices to catch up with its backlog. However, customers who need DMV services this fall and into 2021, should start early to set an appointment. You can schedule, change or cancel an appointment using the DMVs has a new online appointment scheduling tool.

DMV2U, DMV's Online Service Center, is the place to go to schedule appointments, replace your card, change your address, purchase permits and other DMV services. This Oregon Department of Transportation press release also offers helpful tips for using the DMV.
