Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Firm Selection
Council Invites Public Comment on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Firm Selection
The City of West Linn is moving forward to conduct a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) audit of our operations and policies, and to create a DEI training plan for staff, elected officials, and potentially citizen advisory group members and Neighborhood Associations. This is just one part of the work the City is doing in response to Mr. Michael Fesser’s tort claim, and now more broadly in response to the national events of the past several weeks.
We issued an advertisement for interested consultant firms and received 13 responses from our region and across the country. The submittals were quite varied, both in scope and cost. The City Council discussed the submittals at their June 8th and 15th meetings and will be discussing them again at their July 6th meeting. To assist in their decision-making on this, Council requested community input on the submittals in relations to the needs of the City.
Council would appreciate comments including:
- Which firms are best qualified and experienced?
- Which work elements are highest priority considering limited funding?
- Could work elements be phased, and/or potentially done by separate firms?
- Any other comments or advice you deem important.
Details:
In addition to the file of all 13 compiled DEI firm responses, attached below are a couple of reference documents that may be helpful to you.
o West Linn’s Request for Qualifications advertisement, which was reviewed and approved by Council.
o Responses to consultant questions received following advertisement posting.
o Overview spreadsheet of responses and key information, including hyperlinks to the firms that responded.
If possible the Mayor and Council would appreciate receiving your thoughts by Sunday, June 14. Comments can be emailed to citycouncil@westlinnoregon.gov . Your comments will become part of the public record on this decision.
Thank you.
