                                                 Tree Strikes Man on Patio, City Investigating

At 5:23 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, a 9-1-1 call was received from an adult foster home in the 20000 block of Willamette Dr. regarding a tree that had fallen on a resident, who was sitting on a patio behind the home.  Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue (TVF&R) responded, along with the West Linn Police Department.

TVF&R transported the individual, 90-year-old Robert L. Ruff, to the Oregon Health and Science University Hospital. Mr. Ruff died later that evening, according to the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office.

This was a tragic event and is a loss to the community. Our thoughts are with Mr. Ruff’s family and caregivers.

The City will be conducting a full and thorough investigation to ensure protocol and policies were followed.
