The City now processes all dog license requests and renewals securely online and supports payment via credit card, check, money order, or cash.

Check and money order payments can be sent via mail. Cash payments must be made at City Hall. You can send payment after completing the below online form.

For dog license renewals, you will receive a confirmation email that your dog license has been renewed. This new, streamlined process is eco-friendly and saves West Linn taxpayers the cost of printing and mailing a renewal confirmation letter to each dog owner.

For newly licensed dogs, we will continue to mail your dog tags directly to you.

Licensing Details To ensure the safety of your dog it is required that you license your dog with the City of West Linn. This will allow officers to quickly identify the animal’s owner and in most cases you will receive a phone call to retrieve your dog, should it become lost or injured. An unlicensed dog will be impounded at the Clackamas County Animal Shelter and the owner will be responsible for all impound fees and likely receive a citation for having an unlicensed dog. These costs could amount to hundreds of dollars which far exceeds the cost of a license. Please be a responsible dog owner and license your dog today. West Linn Municipal Code 5.275 Licensing: Every person keeping a dog which has a set of permanent canine teeth shall, not later than March 1st of each year, or within 30 days from the date the person becomes the keeper of the dog, obtain a license for the dog. West Linn Municipal Code 5.270 All dogs must be inoculated against rabies, unless specifically exempted by rule of the State of Oregon Health Division or State Department of Agriculture. Rabies certificates shall be current through November of the current year.
