The West Linn Police Department Traffic Division is committed to community policing partnership to create a safer community by enforcing traffic safety laws, education and assisting citizens in solving traffic problems and recommending traffic engineering changes. The overall goal of the traffic division is to eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries, minimize property damage by reducing crashes and aggressive driving behavior. This is accomplished through the 3 “E’s” of traffic safety: Education, Enforcement and Engineering. 

Stolen Wallet or Purse

A lost or stolen wallet or purse is a gold mine of information for an identity thief.

Identity thieves can use information found in your wallet or purse from credit cards, checks, Social Security card, or even health insurance cards to establish new accounts in your name. This creates an identity crisis that can take months for your to detect, and even longer to unravel.

If your wallet or purse is stolen:

Registered Sex Offenders

The most current information on properly registered sex offenders can be obtained by calling the Oregon State Police-Sex Offender Registration Unit at 1-503-934-1258 or email at sexoffender.questions.  This information is maintained and updated daily by OSP.  Many states list the names and addresses of registered sex offenders on their website, but Oregon does not.  Certain offenders may be found on the OSP Sex Offender Inquiry System.

Obtain DMV Accident Report Forms

The West Linn Police Department works in partnership with Neighborhood Associations on speeding complaints. Here are some potential steps that can be used to address speeding problem areas:

Residential Parking District Application

A Residential Parking District was established by city ordinance in 1995 and revised most recently in 2017.

Only residents, WITH PERMITS, living within the designated parking district, are allowed to park on public streets within the parking district between 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., when school is in session.

Parking by non-residents is prohibited.

Officers will routinely patrol those streets. They will cite or tow vehicles that do not have the required decals or temporary permits displayed.

Towed Vehicle Release Requirements

TO COMPLY WITH THE CONDITIONS OF RELEASE A PERSON WITH THE RIGHT TO POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE MUST COME TO THE WEST LINN POLICE DEPARTMENT AND BRING THE FOLLOWING: (For complete details see below .pdf on the conditions of release for a vehicle impounded by the police department.)

1. Positive Picture Identification (Oregon Driver's License);

2. Proof of right to possession (If not listed as the registered owner, a notarized bill of sale or DMV Title Transfer receipt is required);

3. Proof a person with valid driving privileges will be operating the vehicle;

Identity Theft

If you have been a victim of identity theft file a report with the police department immediately. Get a copy of the report or the number of your report in case your bank, credit card company, or insurance company needs proof of the crime. Even when you discover you are a victim of identity theft, it takes months of frustrating effort to clear your name and credit history. Guard your personal information. Guard your mail. Guard your wallet or purse. Guard your phone and internet. Guard your trash.

Fingerprinting Services Not Available

West Linn Police Department does NOT offer fingerprinting services. However, there are several agencies nearby that may offer this service to the community. ***Please call the below places before visiting. This list is not updated on a regular basis. Many locations have suspended fingerprinting services***

Lost & Found Animals

Lost animals picked up by the West Linn Police Department are transported for holding to Clackamas County Dog Services, 13141 SE Hwy 212, Clackamas, OR 97015 (503) 655-8628. (This facility is approximately 2 miles east of I-205 on Hwy 212. The driveway is on the left and shared with Clackamas Drift Boats.)
