36th Safest City In America

West Linn has been recognized as the 36th Safest City in the nation.  Each year Location Inc., publishes a list of the top 100 Safest Cities in America, calculated on cities 25,000 or more population, and based on the total number of crimes per 1,000 residents.  This is based on their research site, Neighborhood Scout.

Prescription Drug Drop Box

In order to assist citizens in safely disposing of small (up to 12 small/medium bottles) amounts of unwanted medications and prescription drugs, a secure drop box has been installed in the lobby of the Police Department. The Police Department will be responsible for the collection, removal, and destruction of these items. 

Property and Evidence Unit

The Property and Evidence Unit secures and maintains the integrity of all evidence and property taken into custody by the West Linn Police Department. Disposition of these items is governed under the laws and ordinances of the State of Oregon.

What is a “ride-along”?

A ride-along means to be an official passenger in a patrol vehicle, accompanying a police officer during part of a normal tour of duty. The primary purpose of a police ride-along is to provide an opportunity for the community to see first hand the day-to-day workings of law enforcement, including familiarizing the public with the complex and unpredictable nature of police work.
