Parks Maintenance

The goal of Park Maintenance and Operations is to provide safe and attractive facilities for our citizens and visitors to use and enjoy. Through the efforts of a well-planned maintenance program, we are able to provide these services effectively and efficiently.

Our maintenance schedules and procedures are based on the standards and frequencies our citizens have come to expect, and are the result of years of developing a maintenance management system specific to West Linn parks and facilities. A recent citizen satisfaction survey ranked park maintenance very high.

Clearing Open Space by Adjacent Property Owners Policy

Permission is required to cut or remove any wood, timber, brush or other material from within the boundaries of public parks and open space. Open space is generally left undisturbed with no maintenance activity or responsibility of the City's work force.

Blackberries, weeds, and other noxious plants which grow easily in unmaintained open space provides minimal value as habitat and can become an eyesore and nuisance to adjacent property owners. This policy establishes guidelines for maintenance of public open space by adjacent property owners.

Trees & Open Spaces

The City of West Linn values our trees and open spaces, and has several policies related to both.

Tree or Street Tree Removal Permit

Tree Removal Permit Process
Tree Removal is governed by City Ordinance

If you need a Tree Removal Permit the City needs:
1. A complete Tree Removal Permit Application.
2. Pictures clearly identifying the tree(s) to be removed.
3. A site map with trees identified for removal, the adjacent street and any structures on the property.

Parks, Areas, & Facilities Naming Policy

The purpose of this policy is to establish a systematic and consistent approach for the official naming of parks and recreational areas and facilities. We want to ensure that parks, recreational areas and facilities are easily identified and located. Ensure that given names to parks, recreational areas and facilities are consistent with the values and character of the area or neighborhood served.

Community Tree Ordinance

The purpose of Sections 8.500 to 8.798 in West Linn Municipal Code is to ensure that the City and any areas that may become part of the City of West Linn will continue to realize the benefits provided by its urban forest, and to establish a process and standards which will minimize uncontrolled cutting or destruction of trees or wooded areas within West Linn.
