Post Office Meeting Update

West Linn Post Office

On Tuesday, June 25th, the U.S. Postal Service held a meeting about the potential relocation of the West Linn Post Office. The meeting video is available here. Here is what we learned:

  • The lease at the current location will tentatively expire on December 31, 2019.
  • As a federal governmental entity, there are specific requirements for finding a new location that must be met.
  • The new space needs 10,000 sq. ft. of building space with 65 parking spots so carriers and retail can be in the same facility.
  • The old Albertson's location has restrictions that currently do not make it possible for the Post Office to lease the building.
  • No decisions will be made for at least 30 days - they would like feedback from the community to help guide their decision.
  • If a location has not been found by the end of the year, carrier services would be based out of Wilsonville and retail services out of Gladstone.
  • If they find an existing building they can move quickly with an expected nine month timeline, if they have to build a new facility it is expected to take approximately a year and a half.

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated, we had great questions and constructive conversations with new information shared. USPS has stated finding a new location in West Linn is a top priority. We encourage you to provide your thoughts and comments to USPS - written comments on the proposal will be accepted until July 25, 2019 and may be submitted below or mailed to:
