Letter from President 11-12-09

Dear WNA Residents, 11/12/09 I must apologize for the delay in getting the agenda out to all of you prior to our meeting this week. It was also a holiday on our meeting date 11/11/09 and I am told there was some confusion among a few residents about whether or not there would even be a meeting. Well, again I am sorry for the confusion. A few reminders: Meetings for WNA are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm at the Pacific West Bank in the Willamette Marketplace. All are welcome. The agenda is usually posted the weekend prior to the meeting on the West Linn City website at www.westlinnoregon.gov . You may email the neighborhood association at any time with comments or to add items to an upcoming agenda. If you or someone you know does not receive minutes or meeting notifications from the city and would like to, please have them email the neighborhood association at www.willamettneighborhood@gmail.com or visit the city website. This past year, the city has provided a listserv to help distribute communications for the WNA and some individuals may have fallen off the list. Also please contact the neighborhood with email changes. Willamette Neighborhood Association is extremely active in the community and is always in need of more volunteers and participants. Any amount of time you may have to get involved and contribute will ultimately benefit the entire neighborhood. Some Volunteer opportunities now: Willamette Falls Drive Planter Cleanup- city/neighborhood sponsored event happens on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9-11am except through winter (December-March). For more information or to get on email list for this event contact Tarra Wiencken at twiencken@westlinnoregon.gov WNA Food Bank Challenge - Beginning 11/11/09 and ending 12/31/09 we will be collecting monetary donations for the West Linn Food Pantry which is very low on supplies. The WNA has created a friendly competition among the city’s neighborhood associations to come up with funds for the pantry. To donate money please make checks out to West Linn Food Pantry and contact Buffalo Zobel at the willametteneighborhood@gmail.com . He is collecting all the funds for WNA. Holiday Parade- 12/12/09 at 10am in Willamette; the association will provide Hot Cider and candy canes. To inquire about volunteering, contact Beth Kieres kierese@comcast.net . Historic District Celebration- coming in December, contact Ruth Offer at offer.family@comcast.net While this neighborhood association may be required to have agendas, meetings and people who try to run them, the real work is done throughout the year by residents who volunteer and often help run city events held in our neighborhood. You are truly an amazing asset to the neighborhood and the City. Improving the world by improving the neighborhood- seems to me- like a good place to start. Sincerely, Beth Kieres, President WNA
