Marylhurst Neighborhood Association
March 24th, 2009
The regular meeting of the Marylhurst Neighborhood Association was called to order at 7:05 pm on Tuesday, March 24th at the West Linn Adult Community Center by President Jeff Treece
7 Association members were present.
As a quorum was not present, an informal discussion was held. The primary topic was how to improve attendance in order to better serve the interests of the neighborhood and enable the neighborhood association to conduct business with more regular quorums.
The consensus was to broaden the appeal of monthly meetings by including guest speakers of interest and assisting those neighbors who might want attend but cannot because of child care responsibilities by providing some form of supervision for younger children at meetings.
It was also decided that a postcard should be mailed listing the meeting dates and planned speakers for the April – June meetings.
When an 8th member of the association arrived and a quorum being present, President Jeff Treece opened the business session of this meeting
Roberta Schwarz made a presentation regarding efforts to preserve the White Oak Savanna natural area North of I-205 on the hillside between Salamo Road and Tannler Drive. She noted that there were many successes in this effort with regard to negotiations with the current owner of the property, the city and various agencies that might provide funding for the purchase and preservation of this unique natural area featuring the largest stand of old growth white oaks in the Portland Metro area.
In closing, Mrs Schwarz asked if the Marylhurst Neighborhood Association might adopt a resolution supporting this effort, which would be useful in obtaining grant funding from the Trust for Public Lands.
A motion was forwarded by Karie Oakes and seconded by Jim Koll to adopt such a resolution. This motion was passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Approval of Minutes:
A motion was made by Walt Dorsey and seconded by Cary Cummings to approve the minutes for the October 28th 2008th meeting.

President Treece adjourned the meeting at 8:20 pm. The next regular association meeting will be at 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 at the West Linn Adult Community Center.
