Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading Program 2025 runs from June 15th to August 15th!
This year's Summer Reading theme is Level Up at Your Library! and we encourage you to do just that. Our Summer Reading Program is open to all ages. And we have prizes for everyone!
How does it work?
Starting Sunday, June 15th, you can sign up on Beanstack. Kids and teens read at least 20 minutes a day for 25 days for a total of 500 minutes. Adults can participate too in our Bingo log, where they can pick and choose activities to complete a bingo, or do them all for a blackout. Once you reach these goals, you’ll receive a ticket to enter into our grand prize raffle. Prizes can be collected beginning on Wednesday, July 9th.
The last day to register is Monday, July 21st. The grand prize drawings take place on Friday, August 15th, so make sure you have completed your reading or challenges by then!
What are the prizes?
Thanks to the generosity of the West Linn Library Foundation, we have a variety of prizes for all ages! Upon completing their 500 minutes, kids and teens can visit the library to select a FREE BOOK of their choice, receive a token for $5 off their fines! Plus one entry into our Grand Prize raffle where we'll give away 10 Grand Prize Game Bags for kids, and a $50 Visa gift card or a $50 Powell's gift card for teens.
For adults, when you complete a bingo, you win: a token for $5 off your fines, a voucher for a free book from our Book Nook used bookstore, AND a chance to enter our grand prize raffle for prizes of a $50 Visa gift card or a $50 Powell’s gift card. If you complete a blackout on our bingo then you will receive another ticket for our grand prize raffle.
What summer events are you offering?
We are pleased to share that Terrific Tuesdays at Willamette Park will begin on June 24th at 10:00am and again at 11:30am! Visit our upcoming Events and Programs listing for more details including registration when required.
What ages can participate?
All ages are invited to join! We encourage the whole family to sign up to support and model great reading habits. And remember, there are prizes for all ages who finish! Our Beanstack Tracker app makes it easy to sign up everyone in your family and toggle between accounts to log progress.
What types of books can I read?
You get to choose! Fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, magazines, and audiobooks all count. Read your own book at home or borrow titles from the library.
I need help finding some good books to read!
We would love to help! We have created a variety of booklists for kids, young teens, teens and adults. Or you can fill out a Personalized Book Recommendation form for Kids & Teens or Adults to receive some suggestions based upon your preferences.
Do you have any instructions on how to get started on Beanstack?
Yes! If you're using the website, check out these short videos on how to create an account and add readers, how to update your account and reader information and how to log reading as a reader. If you're using the Beanstack Tracker app, watch these tutorials on how to create an account, how to edit, add and switch readers, how to log reading and finally how to log activities.
How can I get a paper log?
We’re encouraging all readers to try Beanstack, accessible on your browser or in the app store. If preferred, we still have paper logs available at the library. Note that all pre-school through 5th grade children in our public primary schools do receive a Summer Reading Program paper log at the end of school year. Be sure to complete and return by August 15 to ensure entry in our grand prize raffle!
What opportunities are there to help out?
During the summer, we always welcome the assistance of teen volunteers! For anyone entering the 9th - 12th grade in the fall, refer to our Teen Summer Volunteering page to sign up for shifts starting in June!
Thank you to our wonderful West Linn Library Foundation for generously sponsoring this program!
