Are you interested in writing children's literature? Join our new monthly critique group meeting! The goal of this group is to encourage community involvement in creating books and appreciating the craft of children's literature. No registration or commitment required, but please RSVP if you plan to come so you can be sent the material for the upcoming meeting.

This group is led by Mark Fearing, a local writer and illustrator of children's books.

Repeats every month in January; February & March on the 4th Tuesday at 10am   

Common Threads Crochet & Knit Group is offering techniques and tips for beginner to advanced Amigurumi projects.   You will need a basic understanding of crochet stitches for this class. Limited supplies will be provided, or you can bring your own size F-6 (4mm) hook and #4 worsted weight acrylic yarn in a lighter color for your base project.

We welcome you to our Read Local Author Fair on Saturday, March 1, from 12:00‐2:00 PM. This free event is an exciting opportunity for readers to explore new local authors, talk with them, learn about the writing process, and purchase their books ‐ and have books signed, as well!  The event will feature fourteen talented local authors, and there will be a free raffle for a chance to win one of their books! This is a free event and open to the public. 

 

Learn to Knit

Second Saturday   |   Community Room   |   10 am - 12 pm   |   Registration Required 

In this series, you can refresh your knitting skills with a basics class, or perfect more advanced knitting techniques including double knitting and skills for sock knitting. You will need a basic understanding of knitting for this class. Limited supplies are available, or you can bring size 8 needles and #4 worsted weight acrylic yarn in a at least two colors. This class will be led by Elizabeth Apen.

Jigsaw Puzzle Swap

March 22nd  |  Community Room  |  10:00  AM - 11:30 AM  

Give a puzzle, get a new puzzle in exchange at our Jigsaw Puzzle Swap! Gently used puzzles (in their original box) will be accepted at the Circulation Desk for a voucher starting Saturday, March 15th to Friday,  March 21st  at 6:00 PM. The swap will occur on March 22nd starting at 10 AM. Puzzles will be open to all from 10:45 AM -11:30 AM on only March 22nd, no vouchers needed.

Tuesday, March 18, 10:00am

Create beautiful spring themed welcome signs with this month's Take & Make kit for adults (age 18+).  Each kit contains a decorative poplar plaque, twine for hanging, and paint to customize your own sign. Kits are first-come first-serve starting at 10am on March 18th at the Information Desk, while supplies last. Limit one kit per person.

Work together, strategize, and race against the clock to see if your team can finish before time runs out! Whether you're a seasoned puzzler or just looking for a unique way to challenge your mind, this event offers a perfect opportunity for teamwork, friendly competition, and plenty of fun. Discover your family’s history with Genealogy 101: Introduction to Genealogy Websites! This introductory program will help you get started on your genealogical journey, introducing you to five websites to help you with your genealogical research, and how to best to utilize them. This program will provide you with the tools and knowledge to get started with your family’s story from the comfort of your own home. Join us and unlock the past with ease!

Form teams of up to five people and join us at the library for trivia fun! We will have five 10-question rounds and each round will be a different category. Snacks will be served. All ages welcome. The game starts promptly at 6:30 pm so arrive a few minutes early.

Midday Connections Book Club

Third Tuesday | Community Room | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Midday Connections Book Club meets every third Tuesday of the month at 12 PM. This book club selects well-reviewed books of all genres including fiction and nonfiction. Participants are welcome to bring their lunch. In January, we will be selecting titles for the second half of the year.

Speak with a financial advisor about Investments, Retirement, & Estate Planning. This includes 401(k), IRA, estate planning, planning for major purchase like buying home, college savings, risk management, and more. These appointments are for 30 minutes. Registration is required. 

Common Threads Crochet and Knit Group

Common Threads Crochet & Knit Group is a way of bringing yarn enthusiasts of all skill levels together for the purposes of sharing; listening; learning; and maybe finding inspiration to try something new.  We share patterns and work on whatever we've brought that day. This is not a teaching event, but we are happy to help you with mastering new stitches for your project.  No registration is required for this group.

Welcome to our Speed Friending Library Program! Are you in your 40s or 50s or 60s looking to make new friends and expand your social circle? Look no further! Our program is designed to bring people together in a fun, low stress, and interactive way. Our friendly and welcoming environment ensures that everyone feels comfortable and included. You'll engage in short, structured conversations with different participants, allowing you to quickly get to know each other and find common ground. Registration is requested.
