Magazines & Newspapers
Magazines
See which magazines the West Linn Library subscribes to in the LINCC catalog.
The library generally keeps magazines from the current year and the previous year. Some titles, such as the New York Review of Books, may have longer or shorter retention periods; please check the catalog or contact the Information Desk for more information on retention periods for specific titles. Current issues can be enjoyed in the library. Back issues may be checked out for 14 days, and can be renewed up to 5 times (as long as the item is not on hold for another patron). Overdue fines are $0.25/day.
In addition to the print version of Consumer Reports we also provide access to the Consumer Reports website.
You can find many magazine articles and citations in our Gale database.
eMagazines
Library patrons have access to thousands of eMagazines in a variety of languages through the Libby app or Library2Go website. EMagazines are always accessible and there is no need to place hold. There is no cap on how many eMagazines you can check out, nor do they affect your hold and checkout limits. With smart tags in Libby, patrons can be notified when each new issue is released.
To get started with the Libby app, check out our tutorials, or the Libby page.
Newspapers
The library generally keeps newspapers for two months. Current issues can be enjoyed in the library. Back issues, more than one week old, may be checked out for 28 days. (We keep six months of the New York Book Review.)
Print back issues of the West Linn Tidings from 1981 to present are shelved in the Media Room in large bound volumes.
Database links go to the library's subscription databases. Except for the New York Times, database access is only for past issues. Our New York Times subscription gives you access to nytimes.com for 72 hours, after which time you can renew access for another 72 hours.
