FAQs for Local Authors
I’m a local author. Can I request that the library buy my book?
Every attempt is made to acquire titles by local authors and of regional interest that are produced by mainstream publishers and reviewed favorably in library resources. Occasionally, the library will consider self-published works that have local interest or contain unique content. Learn more about our collection management policy and process. You may submit a purchase suggestion here.
Can I request that the Book Nook sell my book?
The Book Nook is a used bookstore. Rather than purchasing new titles from a distributor to sell, the store is stocked only with donated items, as well as books that were withdrawn from the library collection.
Can I have my book launch / author talk at the library?
Thank you for your interest in holding your author event at our library. The West Linn Library does not sponsor individual book launch events or author talks due to lack of community response in attending these types of programs. We encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter to be notified when we have a call for authors for our next Read Local Author Fair.
Can I book the Community Room on my own for an author event?
If you plan to sell books or any other product the Community Room is not available because our room policy states "Patrons are not permitted to use the room for profit." The Community Room also has other limitations such as the inability to decorate the room, no kitchen, limited parking, limited hours, and a prohibition on serving alcohol. If these considerations are not a problem you can read our room policy and submit a reservation request via our website.
Where can I hold my author event?
There are several local venues available for your event:
