The Library Dogs
Library Dogs Otto, Booker, and Gunnar are Leonbergers, a breed that is known for being gentle and friendly. They belong to one of the library's staff members and they love meeting all the kids who come to visit the library. See more photos of Otto & Booker on Facebook. Our Library Dogs are also part of our Tales to Tail program, which helps kids (K-5) develop confidence with reading.

Ryder: Start November 2024 (training) | Ryder is the newest of our library dogs, and a Booker baby. He was born on Monday, September 22nd. One day he will assist in our Tales to Tails program and go out on outreach on behalf of the library! For now, he's learning all there is to know about the library so one day he can be registered through Pet Partners. He loves his new friend Gunnar, who is showing him what it means to be a good Library Dog.

Gunnar: Start May 2024 (Training) | Gunnar was born Sunday, March 31, 2024. Gunnar graduated from his Intermediate Obedience class & will start Advanced Obedience in January 2025 to prepare for his Pet Partner Therapy Team evaluation.

Booker: Start 2019 (Training), 2022 (Certified)- Present | Otto's little brother Booker was born in August 2019. Booker is now the West Linn Library Dog and he is a Registered Therapy Dog with Pet Partners.

Otto: Start 2015 - Retired 2022 | Our first library dog! Otto is a Registered Therapy Dog and participated in our Tales to Tails program for 7 years until he retired in June of 2022.
