Makerspace
The Hive Makerspace Coming September 2026!
The Trillium Room is being transformed into the Library's new Makerspace, The Hive. Staff selected this name because the process of 3D printing—building an object layer by layer—echoes the work of bees constructing a hive. The Hive will be a place where patrons can create, learn, and bring ideas to life.
The Makerspace will feature 3D printers, a Glowforge laser cutter, and a Silhouette Cameo vinyl cutter.
The Hive project is generously funded by the Holly Grace Jones Endowment of the West Linn Library Foundation and is scheduled to open in September 2026.
Updates will be shared as they become available. Stay connected on this and all library news by following us on Facebook or Instagram, or subscribing to our e-newsletter.

We look forward to welcoming the community this September.

These applications support the equipment available in The Hive and help users prepare their projects for fabrication.
How do I gain access to The Hive?

Once these requirements have been completed, patrons may reserve time during Makerspace Open Hours.
Why is it called The Hive?
Staff selected this name because the process of 3D printing—building an object layer by layer—echoes the work of bees constructing a hive. The Hive will be a place where patrons can create, learn, collaborate, and bring ideas to life.
How can I provide feedback or suggestions for The Hive?
We welcome your enthusiasm for The Hive! While our initial equipment and services have already been selected, we know that new ideas and opportunities will emerge as the Makerspace grows.
After The Hive opens, we will invite feedback from users and consider suggestions for future equipment, programs, and services. Community input will play an important role in helping shape the future of the Makerspace.
