West Linn Announces CPP Grant Opportunity for Tourism-Related Projects

WEST LINN – Public, private, and non-profit organizations are invited to submit applications to receive a grant for projects that will promote tourism in West Linn.  Clackamas County Tourism and Cultural Affairs have awarded grant money to the City of West Linn through the County’s Community Partnership Program (CPP).  The grant money is to provide funding for tourism-related projects that have the potential to become significant and self-sustaining; that are aligned with the economic development goals of the City; and have the ability to recognize or demonstrate a return on investment.  Grant Details and Schedule: A total of $20,000 is available through this program, but individual grants may be issued for as little as $500.  Matching funds and in-kind contributions are not required, but are strongly encouraged.  The application deadline is 5:00 PM on October 11, 2013.  Project selection and the awarding of funds will be completed by November 8, 2013.  Only online applications will be considered.  Access the application online here: http://westlinnoregon.gov/economicdevelopment/tourism-project-funding-ap... Tourism means economic activity from visitors that travel to West Linn for events or activities.  Grants will only be provided to public, private, and non-profit organizations whose project demonstrates a result that will benefit the greater public interest of tourism development, promotion, and/or marketing.  This is a competitive grant.  The selection committee will include the City’s Economic Development Committee and City Staff.  Projects and activities in the following specific areas have been identified as priorities for enhancing tourism in the City of West Linn: Promotion or enhancement of bicycle tourism in the City; Promotion or enhancement of the historic, cultural, or heritage of West Linn and Clackamas County; Promotional materials for City activities or events marketed to tourists that will travel from at least 50 miles away; Activities that utilize sustainable practices or enable a facility or organization to have a low impact on the environment; Promotion or enhancement of our parks and river access (e.g. kayak activities); and, Family-friendly activities and events Projects that emphasize private profitability and/or where the expense could be considered a normal or regular cost of doing business are not eligible for funding.  Similarly, capital improvement projects that will mostly benefit a private for-profit enterprise are not eligible for funding.  The specific submittal requirements and exact review criteria can be viewed here: http://westlinnoregon.gov/economicdevelopment/clackamas-county-tourism-c...
