Youth Advisory Council Applications

YAC

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN YAC!

The City of West Linn is currently accepting Youth Advisory Council (YAC) applications for the 2024-25 school year. YAC is an official advisory body to West Linn's City Council with all the same powers and responsibilities as other advisory bodies, and is a great way for civic-minded students to experience community involvement in a meaningful and impactful way. Learn more about YAC here.

Eligibility:

Students must be entering grades 9-12 and be a resident of West Linn or attend a West Linn school. YAC requires a time commitment of several hours per month.

Goals:

  • Understand the City of West Linn’s legislative process and its day-to-day operations
  • Build relationships with City elected officials, staff, and residents to create civic engagement
  • Advise the West Linn City Council on issues that affect local youth
  • Identify and advocate for the needs of local youth through service projects, events and the legislative process

How to Apply:

Eligible new candidates and returning applicants should fill out the online application by midnight June 30th (paper applications available upon request). New applicants are REQUIRED to submit a signed recommendation form from a supervisor, advisor, teacher, coach, or organizational leader along with their application. Please provide this specific link to recommenders. Reach out to staff liaison Luke Borland with any questions: lborland@westlinnoregon.gov.
