John Williams has been working for the City of West Linn since 2017 as Community Development Director, Deputy City Manager, and now City Manager. John has over 25 years of Oregon governmental experience, including at the Oregon Department of Transportation, the City of Canby, and Metro.
As City Manager, John oversees all aspects of City operations, including over 130 FTE employees and a $137 Million biennial budget. John prioritizes great communication, proactive citizen outreach, employee development and morale, and helping the West Linn City Council and community define and achieve their vision for the future. John is a West Linn resident and is thrilled to be able to apply his belief in public service to his own community.
John received a Bachelor of Science in Geological Science from Tufts University, a Master of Science in Geology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Public Administration from Lewis & Clark College. In his free time, John is a runner, plays guitar, and enjoys travelling and gardening.
