In this series, you can refresh your knitting skills with a basics class, or perfect more advanced knitting techniques including lace knitting and skills for sock knitting. You will need a basic understanding of knitting for this class. Check details for each class on what to bring. Separate registration is required for each class. Upcoming Classes:
January 11: Knitting refresher - In this class you will get a knitting refresher on knit & purl stitches, casting on and binding off stitches, and fixing common mistakes. Basic knowledge of knitting is recommended. Limited supplies will be provided, or you can bring your own size seven, eight, or nine (5.5mm) approx 10” long needles, and #4 worsted weight acrylic yarn in a lighter color that is easier for seeing beginning stitches. For audiences 16 years and older. Please register family members separately. This class will be led by Elizabeth Apen.

February 8: Skills for sock knitters - Have you always wanted to try knitting socks but not sure where to start? In this class, you will learn basic sock knitting skills including: how to select the correct size for your foot, different methods to form the heel, magic loop vs dpns and more. Feel free to bring a pattern you want to knit for tips on pattern reading as well! You will need a basic understanding of knitting for this class. If you want to try some of the skills during class, come with at least 30 stitches cast on to your needles and ~5 rows of knitting in the round complete. Typical sock knitting materials: fingering (#2) weight yarn and circular or double pointed needles (dpns) size US 1.5 (2.5mm). For audiences 16 years and older. March 8: Lace Knitting – Lace knitting is not just for making doilies! Openwork, or lace knitting, is commonly used for scarves, shawls and garments. If you are interested in learning how to make this elegant fabric, this is the class for you. If there is a pattern you want to try, feel free to bring it along! You will need a basic understanding of knitting for this class. Please come with ~50 stitches cast on and a few rows of stockinette or garter stitch already worked. Limited needles and practice yarn will be provided, or you can bring your own needles (size seven, eight, or nine) and #4 worsted weight yarn. For audiences 16 years and older.
