Food For Fines
February is Food for Fines Month at the library! Here's your chance to do two good deeds at once: clear up your overdue fines at the library and help the hungry. Starting February 1st, for every can/package of food brought in, the library will forgive $1.00 in overdue fines. Fees for lost or damaged items will not be waived.
We've added a new component to our food drive this year! Patrons can choose to have $1 of fines waived for every can/package of donated OR they can receive a raffle ticket for every 3 cans/packages of food donated. Tickets will be placed in a drawing for a generous book-themed basket provided by the West Linn Library Foundation. There is no limit to the amount of raffle tickets a person can receive for their donations.
Donors are asked to contribute non-perishable nutritional foods. Dented/damaged cans, previously-opened packages, and ramen noodles (ex. Top Ramen & Instant Lunch cups) cannot be accepted. All food will go to the West Linn Food Pantry.
Examples of nutritious foods that you can donate include:
- Canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon, etc.)
- Canned or dried beans
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Brown or white rice
- Whole grain cereal
- Whole-wheat pasta
- Soups, chilies, and stews
- Peanut butter
