1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a self-paced early literacy program that encourages caregivers to read 1000 books with their child before they enter school. Reading to children builds vocabulary and language skills, and prepares them to enter kindergarten with many other needed skills for success.  Any child age 6 or younger who has not yet entered kindergarten can register.

How do I participate?

Simply log the number of books you've read on Beanstack.  We suggest trying out their free Beanstack Tracker app available for both Android and iOS devices.   Does your child love to read the same book over and over?  Each time counts!

Prefer a paper log?  No problem!  Print out the paper logs below or drop by the Youth Services desk to pick one up.

25 books=welcome packet

100 books=sticker

500 books=free book

1000 books=prize bag including a free book, finger puppet, and more!
