April is National Poetry Month! To celebrate, we are encouraging anyone in Grades 5 through 12 to create a haiku (or two!) and share it with us.

Challenge Begins: April 1st

Challenge Ends: April 25th

All submissions must be in by 6:00 PM on April 25th for inclusion in the judging and display. They may be submitted in person at the youth services desk at the West Linn Public Library or emailed to anewman@westlinnoregon.gov

So, how do you haiku exactly?  See below, or click on the image to the left for the format and examples.

a haiku has 3 lines

First Line: 5 syllables

Second Line: 7 syllables

Third Line: 5 syllables
