How to Check Out and Download E-Books

More Copies of Popular E-Books

To help meet the increasing demand for downloadable e-books and audiobooks, LINCC has started a collection of the most popular titles that are available only to Clackamas County library card holders. This collection should shorten the amount of time you have to wait for bestselling titles. To find these books, log in to Library2Go, search for books, and look for titles with a bright orange check mark. Place a hold as you normally would and you'll be notified when your hold is ready. The list of e-books purchased just for West Linn patrons is available here.

E-Book Availability

  • Looking for a popular book in Library2Go and can't find it? It might be published by Hachette, Macmillan, Penguin, or Simon & Schuster. These publishers and their imprints will not license or sell e-books to libraries. In addition, Random House has tripled the prices of library e-books and HarperCollins has adopted a pricing model that most libraries find prohibitively expensive.
  • Just like physical library books, each e-book only has a certain number of copies available. If all available copies are checked out, you can place a hold on the book and you'll be notified when it's available for checkout.
  • Although Library2Go has thousands of e-books to choose from, not every physical book in the library has an e-book equivalent in Library2Go.

Compatible Devices

  • Many popular e-readers are compatible with Library2Go e-books. See a complete list of compatible e-readers.
  • E-books published by Penguin cannot be transferred to Kindles via wi-fi, only via USB. Instructions for doing so are here.
