Teen Computer Lab

The library’s Teen Computer Lab is a dedicated open computer lab and workstation, located in the teen room downstairs, with the tools and space for teens, grades 6-12, to experience maker culture.  It’s a great place for tweens and teens to learn about emerging technology, develop new skills, and create something cool.

Emerging Technology

With a wide selection of computing and audiovisual resources in the Makerspace, you’ll be able to edit a movie, record a podcast, learn how to program, create a 3D object, create stop-motion animation—anything you can think of!

You'll find the following software and equipment available in the Teen Makerspace:

  • iMac and Windows PC
  • Photo, video and audio editing software, programing apps, 3D design programs
  • Graphics tablet and pen
  • Microphones

Print Resources

If you need some help getting started on a project or just want some good DIY resources, we'd be happy to help you find the books in our collection that will best help you!  There are even some reference books for things like Scratch, Youtube and Photo editing in our Teen computer area.

Maker Programming

To provide all of our patrons with the opportunity to experience the maker movement, we also have year-round maker-based programs for kids in K-5, tweens and teens as well as adults.  Through these programs, we introduce our patrons to new technology, life skills new and traditional, as well as provide a platform for members of our community to share their own skills!

We think everybody should have an opportunity to learn about technology, develop skills, and start to dream up great ideas of their own.  So whether you’re learning, creating, or teaching, the library is the place to start.
