Jr. Civil Engineering-Over the River &
Elephants on the Bridge

Ages 4-7
Students will examine atributes of two types of bridges: beam and
truss. Students will atempt to build a strong truss bridge using some
delicious materials! During the lesson extension, students will take the
bridges they created in the previous lesson and test their strength.
FEE: IC $110 / OC $120

Jr. Aerospace Engineering-Blast Off & Up,
Up and Away

Ages 4-7
Students will get a glimpse into the world of rocketry and
aerodynamics. Students will design a model rocket using a straw,
clay, and paper fns and will test the design of their rocket using a
pneumatc launching device. In the extension Up, Up and Away,
students build their very own flying airplane.

Weather Rocks!

Ages 5-11
Take a voyage to the center of the Earth!
We’ll investgate the powerful process that
shapes our planet and forms remarkable
rocks, magnifcent minerals, and glitering
gems. Our Earth is also affected by
weather and erosion. The forecast calls
for meteorological mayhem in the form
of thunderbolts, heavy winds, and the
occasional tornado-all produced in the safety
of the laboratory.
FEE: IC $46 / OC $56

Garden Friends

Ages 5-11
Examine a world within our own! Learn the
parts of an insect as well as how they defend
themselves. Experiment to fnd the ideal
worm habitat. Observe worms on the move
and learn why bees dance. Take home your
very own worm composter and fnd out
exactly what it means to be bug eyed!

Space Phenomena

Ages 5-11
Take a break from space and breathe the air
down here. Earth’s atmosphere has special
propertes that make our planet unique.
Learn about our atmosphere, objects found
beyond, and what happens when the two
collide! This class is one of four in our NASA:
Academy of Future Space Explorers Series.

Living and Working in
Space

Ages 5-11
Experience the life of an astronaut as you
suit up for space flight! Use teamwork to
complete an important mission. Build a
model space staton, fnd hidden objects
using radar technology, and see how laser
light travels. Discover everyday technology
that was designed for space! This class is a
part of our NASA: Academy of Future Space
Explorers series.
FEE: IC $46 / OC $56

Aerospace Engineering-Blimp Blitz &
Parachutes

Ages 7-12
Students explore and apply the principals of buoyancy to create
a neutrally buoyant blimp that uses the power of air currents to
travel across the room. They will also have to engineer a functonal
parachute for a test jumper that must descend gracefully afer being
dropped from a tall height. Afer the testng phase, which is an
important part of the Engineering Design Process, students will be
able to improve upon their design.
FEE: IC $110 / OC $110

Hardware Engineering Get Wired with
Makey Makey-Human Wire

Ages 7-12
The students will work together to complete an electronic circuit
using their bodies as conductors and design a custom, two person
controller to play the popular game “Flappy Bird”.
