Call for Artists FAQ

The library holds a regular Call for Artists for exhibiting artwork in the library's community room. In addition to this FAQ please read the Art Gallery Operating Policy to see if your question is addressed there.

Can I submit more than one application?
Each artist can only submit one application. If you have a large body of work, please select your best pieces. If you create artwork in more than one medium, choose one.

What mediums will you accept?
We have no restrictions on which mediums we'll accept. That said, our gallery space is best set up for pieces that hang on the wall. We do have a few pedestals if your work is three dimensional.

Why do you ask for so much information?
The selection committee needs as much information as possible to make an informed decision. Your cooperation in providing complete information is much appreciated!

If I've exhibited at the West Linn Library before can I apply again?
Yes, as long as you have not exhibited here in the past 24 months.

I don't live in your area. Can I apply? Will the library pay travel and shipping costs?
You can definitely apply, but all artists who are accepted for exhibits are responsible for the costs and logistics of getting their artwork to and from the library.

What if I'm applying as part of a group?
Artists applying as a group only need to fill out one application for the whole group. Put the name of your group in the Name field, and make sure to include each person's name in the bio section. Please include samples from each member of your group. If you have more than five people in your group you don't need to provide more than five samples.

If I'm not accepted will you tell me why?
Unfortunately we will not be able to give you specifics if you are not accepted, but we encourage you to apply again in the future.

Who is on the selection committee?
The selection committee is made up of artists and library staff. Their identities remain anonymous.

What are the room specifications?
The gallery has three exhibition walls; two are approximately 15' long and 8' tall, the third is comprised of four panels 46" wide and 8' tall. We use the Arakawa hanging system and there are 20 hooks and wires for you to use.

I still have questions.
