West Linn Seniors Activities

West Linn has many activities of interest for our seniors.

    The West Linn Adult Community Center is located at 1180 Rosemont Road in West Linn, Oregon. Programs offered at the ACC are managed by the City of West Linn Parks & Recreation Staff. The ACC is also available for rental use. Contact the ACC by calling Lynn DePretto at 557-4704 or emailing ldepretto@westlinnoregon.gov.

    Adult Book Club
    The library's Adult Book Club focuses on contemporary literary fiction, although non-fiction and classic works are read as well. All titles are selected by the members of the Book Club.

    Burnside Park and Maddax Woods need your help to fight back against English Ivy and other nonnative invasive plants. You can Volunteer to help save the beautiful trees, native plants, and animals in our wonderful nature parks. See How fun it is to make a difference.

  • The Willamette Centennial Committee has a great opportunity to put your family name, business name, or favorite saying in stone forever.

    WEST LINN - West Linn is a city with its eye to the future and a history of innovation in its parks and recreation system. With the adoption of the 2007 Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Plan, the City established a conceptual trails network as an integral part of making West Linn a livable city that contributes to the health and wellness of its community members.

    The West Linn Public Library regularly offers classes for patrons wishing to improve their computer skills and knowledge. We offer classes on a wide variety of topics: computer basics, e-mail basics, internet basics, Word, Excel, and searching the library's catalog and databases.

    The Friends of the Adult Community Center is a non-profit volunteer organization supporting the City of West Linn Adult Community Center.

    The Friends of the West Linn Library is an all volunteer, non-profit organization that helps the library in many ways. Their fund-raising activities include annual used book sales and operation of The Book Cellar, a used book store located on the library's lower level.

    The Adult Community Center Newsletter features news and information from the ACC. Content is created by ACC members and the newsletter design is also provided by ACC volunteers.

    The library now subscribes to a new database: Mango Languages. This web-based language tutor contains thousands of online lessons in nine different foreign languages. To use Mango from home you must have a West Linn library card. Go to www.lincc.org, click the Online Databases, then click the link for Members of West Linn Library.

    The library welcomes gifts of cash contributions, bequests, trusts and transfers of stock or other property. Donations are tax-deductible as provided by law. Donations are cumulative and may be given over time and in many ways. Please email the library director, Diane Satchwell, if you are interested in making a donation.

    Volunteer at Mary S. Young Park to remove invasive species! Volunteers assist with removal of clematis, blackberries, tree ivy and holly (October through May), and trail work in the winter months (usually November through April).

    The Parks and Recreation mission statement is to provide life enhancing experiences and to promote a healthy community.

    Thanks to the Friends of the Library, the library offers free family passes to area cultural venues. There is one pass for each venue and they may be reserved in advance. You will need a library card in good standing to check out a pass.

    Family Cultural Pass program venues include:

    Safe Reunion is a program designed to help safely and quickly return a lost person home.

    The Parks and Recreation Department needs volunteers to assist with set up, program distribution and volunteer coordination.

    Dates of the concerts are July 22, July 29, August 5, 12, 19 & 26,2010 located at Tanner Creek Park.

    Volunteer opportunities are plentiful at the West Linn Adult Community Center. If you have some spare time and would like to give back to the senior citizens of our community this is the place for you.

    The West Linn Adult Community Center is full of rewarding volunteer opportunities for anyone in the community. Some of the volunteer opportunities are listed below:
