The West Linn Public Library will host an exhibit featuring the work of Sarah Fagan during the month of November. The exhibit will run November 2-29 in the library's Community Room which is open to the public when not in use, and always open on Sundays, noon – 5:00 p.m. You can call ahead (503-656-7853) to make sure the gallery will be open. An artist's reception will be held on Sunday, November 3, 3:30-5:00pm.
The show is called "Just Passing Through: Work from Wyoming" and will feature acrylic paintings and panel and paper that were created this past April, 2013 at Brush Creek Ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming where Fagan spent the month as an artist in residence. As a still life painter (though she prefesr the label "painter of objects"), she finds inspiration in the colors, objects, and fellow residents she encountered during her stay in the mountains of Wyoming. These paintings are both a visual journal of moments and things encountered during my stay, and an invitation for us all ot look closer at the quotidian objects, both manmade and natural, of our own surroundings.
Sarah Fagan is a visual artist living in Portland. She is represented by Blackfish Gallery in The Pearl District. When not working in her studio, Sarah teachers art and bookmaking classes to children at various venues in the greater Portland area. She thanks the Oregon Arts Commission for a Career Opportunity Grant that helped fund her Wyoming residency.
