The current franchise agreement with Recology expires on July 31, 2010. Under the terms of the agreement, the City may, at its sole discretion, extend the agreement upon delivery of a written notice to the Company. Therefore, we request a two-year extension expiring July 31, 2012, with the option of a two-year rollover. At this time, the Company has requested an increase for commercial rates.
The extension will allow adequate time for the City Council to discuss options for proceeding with a process that leads to a new franchise agreement.
The City Council make a motion to authorize the extension of two years to the contract and associated rate increase with the expiration date of July 31, 2012.
