
WEST LINN –The West Linn City Council is accepting applications and letters of interest for a Council vacancy created by the resignation of the mayor. Apply online by clicking here. Completed applications must be submitted by noon on Monday, April 26, 2010.
All applicants must complete an application and submit a letter of interest to be considered for a vacant position. Interviews will be conducted and a tentative decision will be made on Thursday, April 29, 2010; and an appointment and swearing-in by the City Council is scheduled for Monday, May 10, 2010.
A candidate for appointment shall be a qualified elector under the State Constitution and shall have resided in the City during the twelve months immediately before being appointed to the office. “City” means the area inside the City limits at the time of the appointment. The appointed Councilor shall continue to be a resident of the City during the entire term of office.
As directed by the City of West Linn Charter, the City Council has declared a vacancy due to the mayor’s resignation from office. The terms of appointment directs the City Council to fill the vacant position by appointment by a majority vote of the remaining Council members through September 2010. The City Council reserves the right to appoint someone to either the mayor’s position, or a councilor position if the mayor’s position is filled with a sitting City Councilor. The application form asks applicants to indicate the position(s) an applicant seeks.
