West Linn man arrested for Felon in Possession of firearm, Unlawful use of a firearm and menacing after a fight next to his home where a shot was fired into the air. On Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 12:29 a.m. officers from the West Linn Police Department were dispatched to a shots fired/disturbance call in the area of Geer Street and Buck Street in West Linn's Bolton Neighborhood. Officers from Lake Oswego Police Department and Clackamas County Sheriff's Department assisted in this case. As officers were responding to the scene, Sgt. Dave Kempas saw a vehicle leaving the area. He stopped the car and discovered the victims of the fight. He learned Daniel Eugene SHEEHAN, age 37, of 6120 Geer Street, West Linn, had gotten into an argument with the occupants of the car at a bar in Oregon City, he (SHEEHAN) left the bar leaving his girlfriend there with her family. Upon her return home, a fight with the father of his girlfriend, Gary Ivan ROTHGEB, age 45, of West Linn broke out. During the fight, Tony Joseph ROTHGEB, 22 years old, also of West Linn, stepped in, at which point SHEEHAN pulled a semi-automatic pistol from his coat, and pointed at young Mr. ROTHGEB'S head, then fired once over his head into the air. Fortunately, the bullet struck no one. Mr. SHEEHAN is a convicted felon, and prohibited from possessing firearms. Daniel Eugene Sheehan Officers surrounded the area, and cal led Mr. SHEEHAN who eventually surrendered to officers on the scene. He was taken to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged on charges of Felon in Possession of a Weapon (C -Felony), Unlawful Use of a Weapon (C-Felony) and Menacing (A-Misdemeanor) in lieu of $30,000 bail. "This is another case that illustrates just how disastrous the recipe of alcohol and firearms can be," said Sgt. Neil Hennelly.
