Lewis got hooked on painting fifteen years ago when her children took art classes. She has studied with local artists and attended workshops taught by nationally-known artists. Although she started out with watercolor, she eventually branched out into oil painting. She paints every day and teaches full-time.
Lewis used to spend her time kayaking, even competing nationally in slalom whitewater races. While raising her children, the family spent a lot of time along rivers, at the beach, and on lakeshores. In creating the pieces for “Moving Water”, she revisited old haunts, spending hours observing water, and this exhibit evokes the movement, color, and energy of water.
