The City of West Linn was one of the first Oregon cities to have its complete federal stimulus money application submitted to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), the League of Oregon Cities, Metro and Clackamas County to ensure that West Linn would have the best chance possible of being successful.
At this juncture, only applications for transportation projects are being accepted, although it is anticipated that applications for water, sewer, surface water, and parks projects will soon be requested.
ODOT requested a list of potential projects that may be funded from the federal economic stimulus package. The review process, and which agency will have the lead in Oregon, is still being discussed but West Linn has provided all requested information to ODOT and other affiliated agencies. The summary application documents are attached to this web page.
In addition, the City of West Linn was included on a list of potential projects for Metro transportation funding in the 2010-2013 time frame. West Linn's Highway 43 project was included on the list, and citizen advisers were directed to provide advocacy and support of this project to Metro's transportation policy advisory committee.
Finally, the City has also forwarded requests to Senator Merkley, Senator Wyden, and Congressman Schrader for funding for the Willamette falls Locks. And, the City is working in partnership with the Trust for Public Lands with a request to Senator Merkley’s office for funds to complete the acquisition of the Savannah Oaks property.
The City of West Linn is confident that it is taking advantage of every opportunity that is available to leverage federal stimulus money and is working closely with Oregon's federal delegation.
