WEST LINN – The West Linn Public Library will feature a special exhibit from the Oregon Art Education Association during the month of February. The exhibit will run in February in the Library Community Room which is open to the public when not in use, and always open on Sunday from noon – 5:00 p.m. An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
“Beyond the Demos” is a group art exhibition featuring the work of art educators from around the State of Oregon. This show is the third manifestation of this series of exhibitions sponsored by the Oregon Art Education Association.
The intent of the series is to encourage art educators to keep pursuing their own personal studio work by providing exhibition opportunities for them. The art educators on the OAEA board believe that when educators continue to grow in their own studio work, this only strengthens what they can do with their students. It is powerful for students to see their teachers producing quality work.
To ensure that they exhibit work of merit, OAEA asks professional artists outside the OAEA board to jury the submissions. Portland artist Steve Tilden is jurying this show for the West Linn Public Library. Twenty-two art educators submitted works, which are being juried before the final pieces are selected for display in this exhibit.
