WEST LINN - The City of West Linn and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) are pleased to present an Emergency Preparedness Fair on March 8, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the gym at the Rosemont LDS Church. The fair will include lessons on how to care for your family and yourself in the event of winter storms, floods, epidemics or other disasters. This free, family-friendly event will include giveaways, drawings, activities for kids, snacks, and drinks.
Experience the TVF&R Safety House (AKA "Smoke Trailer") and teach your children how to get out of a burning house. Climb on a fire truck and inside a police car. LOCOM will teach children how to successfully complete a 911 call. With more than a dozen participating booths and breakout sessions, community partners will have information and offer literature about how to prepare your home, car, and family for emergencies.
The “Prophet of Doom,” James Roddy, with the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries, will present a “Quake-Up Call” on the coming Cascadia earthquake. Jay Wilson, with Clackamas County Emergency Management, will present on the smaller annual “disasters” that we should always be prepared for (power outages, road closures, flooding, etc.).
Other topics include:
