English ivy is considered a noxious weed in Oregon because of its threat to natural habitat. It can easily smother trees and other native vegetation. Why do the trees at Burnside Park and Mary S. Young Park look healthy? That’s because caring volunteers keep the ivy from encroaching. But the battle against English ivy is ongoing. Volunteer crews get together once at month at each site to pull ivy: 2nd Saturdays at Mary S. Young Park and 3rd Saturdays at Burnside Park. Join the action and make a difference.
