Informational website providing information and resources for the study of a new police facility in the City of West Linn.
The City of West Linn has contracted with Group Mackenzie and their team to assist with a conceptual design of a new police facility in West Linn. This project includes working with an appointed committee and the gathering of extensive public input thorough upcoming meetings.
What is the Community Police Facility Development Committee?
The West Linn City Council recently empowered staff to assemble a group of citizens who can advise City staff on police facility design, location, functionality, and process issues. Council believes the participation of the Community Police Facility Development Committee (CPFDC) will better inform staff as they prepare materials for City Council's review and consideration. The May 2010 ballot measure for a GO bond which would have funded the building of a new police facility was defeated. City Council is hopeful that with assistance from the committee we can develop a citizen-led process to revise the police facility proposal so it is enthusiastically supported by voters.
The CPFDC currently has meetings bi-weekly each month. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the 2nd floor at 6:00pm. To view upcoming meetings for the CPFDC please visit the City's calendar. For your convience we have added meeting notices and notes from previous meetings below. If you have any questions about the CPFDC please contact Tina Lynch at 503.742.8602.
If you would like to share opinions, suggestions or have general comments you may do so by visiting the Committee's Recommendation Page.
Group Mackenzie's work to date
Group Mackenzie (contracted architectural firm) completed a Site Selection Due Diligence report for the City of West Linn. The attached executive summary details Group Mackenzie's work for the proposed new police facility for the West Linn Police Department.
The attached documents address the construction of a new police facility and associated improvements (i.e. parking and rough site improvements).
Group Mackenzie also provided professional services to the City of West Linn for evaluating the existing facilities and future needs for a new consolidated police facility (including police and municipal court) that would allow thirty-year growth for the department. This study has been formatted to document each of the steps completed during this space needs assessment.
Services provided to complete this study included: Architectural, Land Use Planning, and Construction Cost Estimating services. These design concepts are preliminary drawings to aid in cost estimating.
Concurrently the City of West Linn staff has assembled a group of citizens to participate on an Aquatic Center Committee. Although it may appear both committee's have similar agendas, each committee is poised to focus on seperate issues. Please visit the Aquatic Center Committee to view current information.
