Welfare Check Results In Death Investigation and Seizure of 70 Animals

On Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 4:22 pm the West Linn Police Department responded to a call from a landlord to check the welfare of his tenant in the 1300 block of Willamette Falls Dr. Upon the arrival of the officers, they discovered the tenant deceased, along with several of her animals. The officers also discovered 70 other animals in various conditions in the home. The West Linn Police identified the decedent as Marcia Diane Gredvig, 57.  Ms. Gredvig lived alone in the home with her animals. The West Linn Police were assisted by an Oregon Humane Society (OHS) Response Team, as well as an Animal Rescue Technician from the Milwaukie Police, and TVF&R Engine 59 in removing the 70 animals from the residence. The live animals included ten dogs of various breeds, one hairless rat, five common rats, three euromasticks, two bearded dragons, two baby Corn Snakes, four chickens, three Iguanas, two Leopard Geckos, tortoises and a large number of Vietnamese Walking Stick bugs. The animals were triaged at the scene by OHS personnel, thirty were taken to their facility, twelve were taken to an emergency veterinary clinic, and the remaining animals were taken to a foster facility. Eleven animals were found dead in the home, they were mostly dogs. None of the animals are available for adoption at this point.
