The Patrol Division of the West Linn Police Department provides 24 hour, seven day per week uniformed patrol functions for the city. These duties included response to emergency and non-emergency calls, investigation of crime, enforcement of traffic laws, apprehend criminals, and maintain peace and order throughout our community.
Five Sergeants, who supervise twenty officers, and two Community Service Officers, staff the division. Sergeants and officers work one of three shifts, providing around the clock coverage. Typical deployment is one sergeant and two officers per shift, there is an overlap in the evening when the overnight shift comes in, as they work a 4-10 hour shift, versus the day and afternoon shift that work 5-8 hour shifts. Our service call volume is highest during the late afternoon to early evening.
Community Service Officers provide code compliance, animal control, and other services to the community.
In June 2007, the WLPD began the process of phasing out our black and white schemed patrol cars with a new all black car with updated graphics. This was done to reduce the cost for the cars, and overcome the 14-month waiting list for black and white cars from Ford.
Our current fleet of patrol vehicles includes twelve Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors, one Chevrolet Tahoe, one Police Motorcycle, and four Cannondale Police Mountain Bicycles.
