On December 18, 2009 West Linn Officer John Satter lost a short but fierce battle with an aggressive cancer. He put in his retirement paperwork just a few weeks before he passed. John was a 20 year veteran of the police force and was the first motorcycle officer to be deployed with the department.
Officer Satter spent his career in the patrol division, working stints in traffic, including truck inspections. He leaves behind his wife, two adult children, and a step-daughter.
"The loss of John leaves a large hole in the fabric of the West Linn Police Department" Chief Terry Timeus said, "He was one of our finest, was loved by all and will be sorely missed, our thoughts are with his family."
