WEST LINN - The 789JAM is a dance set up for 6-9th graders held at the Willamette Christian Church in West Linn. The event is sponsored by the City of West Linn Police, Parks and Recreation Departments, the Church and former Trailblazer Brian Grant. The goal of the 789JAM is to provide a safe, healthy outlet for our youth.
We have been watching the weather forecasts closely and have come to the conclusion it is best to cancel 789 JAM for tonight. It is unclear when freezing rain will arrive in the area. Since we are at the top of the hill, it will hit here before other places.
We don't want to take the chance of going forward with the dance and having parents come out to pick up their students then driving home in unsafe conditions. We made the decision yesterday so we can enlist the help of the school district in getting the word out to all of the students. Please tell any student you know. I will also be texting the 275 or so whose cell phone numbers I have after school today.
Thanks and happy holidays,
####
