West Linn Parks and Recreation Now Accepting Applications for Annual Safety Town

WEST LINN - The West Linn Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting volunteer applications, through the Human Resources Department, for the popular 'Safety Town' program, schedule for June 2012.

The City of West Linn is recruiting for volunteers to work in the Safety Town Camps program sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department.
Volunteers (must be at least 13 yrs. old) are a very important part of the success of Safety Town.

Volunteers for Safety Town must be available for a 6 day commitment, including one day of training/set-up. Training/set-up will be held Friday, June 22nd, 1-3 pm. Camp dates are June 25-29. West Linn Safety Town will be held at Sunset Firehall, 2215 Long St., West Linn 97068.

Safety Town teaches children ages 4-6 how to handle hazards and dangerous situations. Under the guidance of West Linn Recreation Staff and community resource personnel, volunteer leaders introduce campers to a wide variety of safety concepts with special emphasis on traffic and pedestrian safety. The program consists of guest presenters, classroom instruction, craft projects, and songs. Our volunteer leaders are a very important part of the success of Safety Town.
