West Linn Parks and Recreation Department Now Accepting Volunteer Applications for June 2011 Safety Town

WEST LINN - The West Linn Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting volunteer applications for the popular 'Safety Town' program, schedule for June 2011.

Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age and available for training on June 15, 2011 and for Safety Town the week of Monday, June 20 through Friday, June 24.

Safety Town teaches children ages 4-6 how to handle hazards and dangerous situations. Under the guidance of West Linn Recreation Staff and community resource personnel, volunteer leaders introduce campers to a wide variety of safety concepts with special emphasis on traffic and pedestrian safety. The program consists of guest presenters, classroom instruction, craft projects, and songs.
