
WEST LINN - Friday night, February 18th, at the historic McLean House, eight West Linn 8th grade girls - arms intertwined - eagerly awaited the news to find our which four would represent their community and promote the annual tradition of the Old Time Fair. This annual community event, now approaching its 55th consecutive year, happens the weekend of July 15- 17th in Willamette Park.
About the 2011 Fair Court Princesses:
Princess Sara, the lone representative of Rosemont Ridge Middle School, is the daughter of Tami and Rob Gowdy. All other Court members are students of Athey Creek Middle School. Princess Emma is the daughter of Shannon McBride and Rob Waibel. Princess Ellie is the daughter of Chris and Todd Jones. Princess Lauren is the daughter Doris and David Huttula.
The 2011 Fair Court Princesses will immediately begin a busy schedule of service projects and appearances. Each of the new Court members will conduct an individual service project and, along with 2010 Queen, Hanna Hilton, will perform a group project during Take Care of West Linn Day, May 14th. Their promotion of the West Linn and the Old Time Fair begins with their participation in the Oregon City Pioneer Days Teddy Bear Parade. They will be collecting donated stuffed animals for donation to local emergency responders to comfort children in crisis. In June they will appear in Portland’s Rose Festival Starlight Parade. They will also represent West Linn at City sponsored events throughout the year including both nights of the Daddy Daughter Dance, the Willamette Street Dance, West Linn Old Time Fair Parade, and the Community Tree Lighting.
The 2011 West Linn Old Time Fair Queen will be announced during the Coronation on Friday, July 15th.
