This 100 years of music is a concert not to miss. The 100 years of Music was created in 2008 as part of Willamette Centennial year long celebration. This special encore edition, featuring the original four artists, will present the original concert with some updates to include the last two years. Each artist in this show is special in their own way and together they bring a vast experience and uniqueness to a concert.

Reece Marshburn is a Washington native with a Jazz studies degree from Western Washington University. For the past fi ve years Reece has played piano in a variety of groups and venues around Portland including the Jim Beatty Jazz Band and Tony Starlight’s Supper Club and Lounge. An accomplished and versa-tile pianist, his credits also include music director and conductor for several local theatre companies including Broadway Rose and Portland Center Stage. Last fall, he was pianist/conductor for Portland Center Stage’s “Cabaret” and music director for “A Christmas Carol”. Reece also leads his own trio and recently released a CD of original material titled, “Introducing Reece Marshburn”.
Jim Beatty, named the “Eminent Clarinet Soloist of the 21st Century by Hot Jazz Magazine, is an internationally acclaimed jazz musician who has recorded extensively and toured both nationally and internationally as a guest soloist. A bandleader for over 50 years, Jim has played in every conceivable venue…including nightclubs, jazz festivals, concert halls, private & corporate parties, radio and TV shows and lectured and performed in schools and colleges through-out the country. (Jim is a New York native, an Oregonian since 1967 and a Wil-lamette resident for the past twelve years)
Tony Starlight has performed off and on in the Portland area since 1993 in venues such as The 1201 Club, The Gypsy and Jimmy Mak’s. As a comedi-an he did three seasons at the L.A. Connection Comedy Theater, opened for Steven Wright, and performed at the Improv alongside Sarah Silverman and Zach Galifi nakas. Tony is the owner of Tony Starlight’s Supper Club & Lounge in Portland, where he performs swinging jazz standards, parody songs, impres-sions and stand up comedy.
Marianna Thielen is a classically trained vocalist who received her degree in Musical Theatre (including acting and dance) at the University of Northern Colorado. She has performed in regional and local theatre companies such as the Lakewood Theatre and the Broadway Rose. In the past year, Marianna put together her own group, “Marianna Thielen and the Baby Vamps” for which she writes music, choreographs, and sings lead vocals.
